DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nSpeaker bio: John Duchi is an associate professor of Stat
 istics and Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. His work spans s
 tatistical learning\, optimization\, information theory\, and computation\
 , with a few driving goals. (1) To discover statistical learning procedure
 s that optimally trade between real-world resources — computation\, 
 communication\, privacy provided to study participants — while maint
 aining statistical efficiency. (2) To build efficient large-scale optimiza
 tion methods that address the spectrum of optimization\, machine learning\
 , and data analysis problems we face\, allowing us to move beyond bespoke 
 solutions to methods that robustly work. (3) To develop tools to assess an
 d guarantee the validity of — and confidence we should have in —
  machine-learned systems.\n\n\n\nHe has won several awards and fellowshi
 ps. His paper awards include the SIAM SIGEST award for “an outstanding p
 aper of general interest” and best papers at the Neural Information Proc
 essing Systems conference\, the International Conference on Machine Learni
 ng\, the International Conference on Learning Theory\, and an INFORMS Appl
 ied Probability Society Best Student Paper Award (as advisor). He has also

DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nSpeaker Bio: Jason M. Klusowski is an Associate Professo
 r in the Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering (ORFE
 ) at Princeton University. He is also affiliated with the Princeton Labora
 tory for Artificial Intelligence (AI Lab) and the Princeton Language and I
 ntelligence (PLI) initiative. He studies the mathematical and statistical 
 foundations of machine learning and AI systems\, examining how data\, comp
 utation\, and model structure shape their capabilities and limitations.\n\
 n\n\nBefore joining Princeton\, Jason was an Assistant Professor in the De
 partment of Statistics at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. He received 
 his Ph.D. in Statistics and Data Science from Yale University.\n\n\n\nJaso
 n serves on the editorial board of&nbsp\;Bernoulli\, the journal of the Be
 rnoulli Society. His research is partially supported by a Sloan Research F
 ellowship in Mathematics and&nbsp\;NSF CAREER DMS-2239448\, and was previo

DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nSpeaker bio: Tim Roughgarden is a Professor in the Comput
 er Science Department at Columbia University and the Founding Head of Rese
 arch at a16z crypto. Prior to joining Columbia\, he spent 15 years on the 
 computer science faculty at Stanford\, following a PhD at Cornell and a po
 stdoc at UC Berkeley. His research interests include the many connections 
 between computer science and economics\, as well as the design\, analysis\
 , applications\, and limitations of algorithms. For his research\, he has 
 been awarded the ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award\, the Presidential Early Ca
 reer Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE)\, the Kalai Prize in Comp
 uter Science and Game Theory\, the Social Choice and Welfare Prize\, the M
 athematical Programming Society's Tucker Prize\, the INFORMS Lanchester Pr
 ize\, and the EATCS-SIGACT Gödel Prize. He was an invited speaker at the 
 2006 International Congress of Mathematicians and the Shapley Lecturer at 
 the 2008 World Congress of the Game Theory Society. He is a Fellow of the

 ation of sociotechnical systems\, drawing on tools and modeling concepts f
 rom both theoretical computer science and economics to understand and infl
 uence behavior patterns in various online and offline systems\, markets\, 
 and games. Her research has made foundational contributions to areas such 
 as social networks\, matching markets\, and mechanism design.  \n\n\n\nPr
 ior to joining Yale\, Immorlica was a Senior Principal Researcher at Micro
 soft Research New England\, where she led the economics and computation gr
 oup. She holds a Ph.D. in theoretical computer science from MIT and has he

 of Statistics at the University of Texas at Austin\, where she works at th

 thods of Data Science and is affiliated with the Institute for Foundations
  of Machine Learning (IFML). She also holds a courtesy appointment in Comp
 uter Science and is affiliated with Operations Research and Industrial Eng
 ineering at UT Austin.\n\n\n\nBefore joining UT Austin\, Sarkar was a post
 doctoral scholar at the University of California\, Berkeley\, where she wo
 rked on asymptotic theory for network models and the nonparametric bootstr
 ap for big data. She received her PhD from the Machine Learning Department
  at Carnegie Mellon University\, where her thesis analyzed the theoretical
  properties of proximity measures arising from random walks and used them 
 to design fast algorithms. She holds a B.Tech. from the Department of Comp

DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nSpeaker Bio: I am a Full Professor of Computer Science\, 
 Data Science and Mathematics (affiliated) at the Courant Institute and the
  Center for Data Science\, New York University. I belong to the CILVR (C
 omputational Intelligence\, Learning\, Vision and Robotics) group and I co
 -founded the MaD (Math and Data) group. During Spring 2020 I was also a 
 Member of the Institute for Advanced Study\, part of the Special Year on
  Optimization\, Statistics and Theoretical Machine Learning.\n\n\n\nMy res
 earch interests touch several areas of Machine Learning\, Signal Processin
 g and High-Dimensional Statistics. I am particularly interested in mathema
