Overview:
Join us for the Yale FDS AI Promptathon, a university-wide event designed to build AI literacy, enhance collaboration, and foster community engagement around AI. This hybrid event welcomes participants from across Yale to engage in a morning of exciting and intellectually stimulating activities focused on AI prompting and applications.
Event Details:
- Format: The event will be held both virtually and in-person, accommodating remote access to ensure inclusivity and broad participation.
- Schedule:
- Morning: Half-day event kicking off with an opening ceremony featuring an introduction by Casey King.
- Activities: Teams and individuals will be given a series of prompts from diverse fields, challenging participants to develop AI prompts and applications in near real-time.
Participation:
- Teams: Participants can sign up individually or in mixed-discipline teams, which will be assigned on the morning of the event. Each team will include members from various fields such as Computer Science, Philosophy, History, and Biology.
- Challenges: Participants will receive challenges designed for different disciplines, such as computer science designing a philosophy prompt or philosophy creating a data visualization task.
- Prompts: Examples of challenges include designing AI prompts to support mental health, developing prompts for AI in underprivileged areas, or ensuring AI ethics to prevent harm to humans.
Goals:
- AI Literacy: Enhance understanding and usage of AI tools across disciplines.
- Collaboration: Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation.
- Community Engagement: Strengthen the Yale community’s engagement with AI technology.
Prizes and Judging:
- Teams with the best prompts and outcomes will be evaluated by judges, with prizes awarded for excellence in creativity, execution, and adherence to best practices.
Support and Resources:
- The event will be supported by experts. Sponsors from the private sector interested in providing resources and guidance are invited to reach out to FDS Associate Director Emily Hau.
- Participants will have access to Yale’s Secure AI Chatbot and other AI tools.
Registration:
- The event is limited to the Yale community, aiming to reinvigorate departments and ensure everyone has a place at the table in the AI revolution.
- Interested participants are encouraged to register early and specify their field of expertise to facilitate team assignments.
