Machine Learning for Fundamental Physics: New Insights for Black Hole Physics

Abstract: Machine Learning has typically been used in the service of organizing, classifying information from complex multi-dimensional data-sets, and extracting higher-level correlations. Here we demonstrate a new use-case, an inversion, where ML can be used powerfully to garner new insights into fundamental physics – in this instance, stress-test our understanding of how black holes grow and evolve in the Universe.
