Anna Mikulevica

Anna is originally from Riga, Latvia. She graduated from MIT with a B.S. in Mathematics and Biology. In her undergrad, Anna worked in the Ovchinnikov Lab on applications of Genomic Language Models (gLMs) to improve metagenomic assembly . At Yale, she is currently pursuing a PhD in the Computational Biology and Biomedical informatics (CBB) program. Anna is part of the Lake Lab, where she is working on developing and advancing next generation mitochondrial constraint models to gain insights into how mitochondrial variation shapes human health and disease. After her PhD, Anna is hoping to continue her research path in academia, working on interpretation of genetic variation, and become a professor.
What do you do with Data Science?
I’m excited to participate in the outreach opportunities like teaching and mentoring to make data science more accessible and exciting for the broader community. Additionally, I am excited to collaborate with researchers from different fields to gain novel ideas to apply in my research.
