I was born and raised in southwest Florida and completed degrees in Biology and Mathematics at the University of Florida (go gators!) I began my research journey studying transcriptional networks involved in bacterial infection and later studied the evolutionary origins of eukaryotic proteins using high performance computing. After college, I conducted research at UNC Chapel Hill, where I designed de novo proteins using deep learning methods. At UNC, I became interested in the intersection between engineering, physics, and experimental biology, which led me to join the McNamara lab at Yale as a PhD student. In the McNamara lab, I am studying the role of electrical signaling in early embryonic development and am building data analysis pipelines to uncover novel voltage-sensing proteins across the human proteome. Outside of the lab, I love to sing and am a member of the Yale Citations, a graduate a cappella group on campus.
What do you do with Data Science?
I'm excited to connect with other researchers who are passionate about applying data science to disparate fields!
