Assistant Professor of Statistics and Data Science
Theodor Misiakiewicz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics and Data Science at Yale since 2024. Prior to Yale, he was a Research Assistant Professor at the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago during a year. He received a Ph.D. in Statistics in 2023 at Stanford University, and a M.Sc. in Theoretical Physics in 2016 from Ecole Normale Superieure de Paris.
What do you do with Data Science?
My research focuses on developing mathematical theories for deep learning and more generally, large-scale learning systems. Specifically, I aim to establish theoretical foundations for contemporary methodologies, explain their unexpected behaviors, provide learning guarantees, and help make these models more interpretable. By leveraging these insights, my goal is to provide guiding principles for practitioners and propose new approaches that offer both provable guarantees and competitive performance.
